A bewildering leafy green also called chicory or escarole, but Frisée does not have a cylindrically shaped leaf, being shaggy and bushy. But nothing’s strange about how it’s the perfect accent for any salad. Its slightly bitter flavor is milder than other endives and adds just the right balance to salads. Pale green, almost yellow leaves offset the dark green colors found in most lettuces.
